EASYJET Cypriot entrepreneur Stelios Haji-Ioannous low-cost airline will start flights to and from Cyprus in March. The move has been made possible easyJet's acquisition of the GB Airways, which is already operational on the island. Starting on March 30, 2008, easyJet will operate 12 weekly flights of GB Airways from Gatwick Airport to Paphos and possibly GB's seven weekly flights from Manchester to Paphos. |

With recent fierce competition between budget airlines, it seems that Cyprus is set to reap the benefits. Assetz property reports that Monarch Airlines has entered the market this week, offering flights from GBP 69.99 one way between Luton and Larnaca. Monarch claims that the service will be "breaking the stranglehold" currently exercised by national airlines such as British Airways. |
